'77 MONTE

In '76 I bought a used '75 Landau with swivel seats and the 454 cu in V8. It had Positraction, but with it's dreadful weight distribution, it left so much to be desired, living in the snow belt. I always drive on the top half of the gas tank, and put a couple of concrete corner blocks far forward in the trunk. Good snow tires rounded out the equation. My commute was 50 miles each way, 5 days a week. Certain modifications were made on it so it would use leaded gas which was way cheaper than that new-fangled unleaded crap. The catalytic converter went too, and the air pump. We got it up to 12 MPG -- far better than 10. Hubby had a '75 as well, also in silver-grey. I had a vivid dream one night that I had a big hole dug in the front yard and I buried it, to ensure one less guzzler on the road.
I was stopped at a stop light once and a guy in a big old T-bird was looking for some music and had taken his eyes off the road and rammed me at 30 mph, knocking me through the intersection. The bumperettes had to be changed on the Monte; the T-bird went to the junk yard. His car was the crumple zone lol
